Remembrance Day BBR Challenge
8 November 2021 (by Mark Backhouse (M.Backhouse))
This morning in worship we explored the importance of Remembrance Day also known as Armistice Day.
The children learned about the importance of this day: why it is celebrated, who celebrates it and how it is celebrated.
The children also learned about the importance of the sound of The Last Post and the role of the sentry as well as the importance and symbol of the poppy. Ask your children tonight what they can remember from this morning. We are sure you'll be impressed.
This morning the children decided that on Thursday 11th November 2021 we will gather together as a whole school in the hall for 11am to mark the 2 minute silence by listening to the Last Post and showing our respect to those who served and sacrificed so much during the wars and who continue today to serve us.
The school's BBR Crew have set a challenge for those children who would like to join in: design and make a poppy, bring it to school and we can display it.
Photographs will be shared with our community shortly.
