In these uncertain times post COVID-19, we understand that parents/CARERS MAY have worries about returning to school in September. We have designed this page to hopefully help everyone, reduce anxieties for children and parents and answer as many questions as possible.
On this page, you will find the whole school transition plan for the following groups:
- Children moving from Year 6 to Year 7 to The Bolsover School.
- Children moving from Year 2 to Year 3 from Bolsover Infant and Nursery School.
Unfortunately, due to recent bubble closures at the Infant school, we have had to make amendments to our planned transition arrangements for our new Year 3 pupils joining us in September 2021. Please find information in the following letter:

Listed below are the key dates for transition for next half-term for your child/ren visiting us at the junior school.
Thursday 10th June 2021 – 5:00pm - Year 2 Parent Meeting (via Zoom) – a chance to meet some of the school staff and find out information about the school. Information and a link will be sent out about this later to the date.
Tuesday 15th June 2021 – Year 3 teacher visit to Infants – our Year 3 teachers will visit the infant school to introduce themselves to the Year 2 children and spend the day with them.
Tuesday 29th June 2021 – Year 3 teachers visit to Infants – another chance for our Year 3 teachers to visit the infant school and spend the day with the Year 2 children to get to know them further - please note this will now take place via Zoom due to the Year 2 bubble needing to self-isolate.
Thursday 1st July 2021 – 5:00-7:00pm - Year 2 Parent Open Evening – a chance to visit our school, meet some of the staff and have a tour of the classrooms and grounds - please note the change of date on the above letter due to the Year 2 bubble needing to self-isolate.
Monday 5th July and Tuesday 6th July- Year 3 teachers to hold parent meeting Zooms- this is an opportunity for parents and carers to meet the class teacher and to communicate any worries or queries as well as anything it is felt the teachers need to know.
Monday 19th July 2021 - Year 2 transition day at the juniors - on this day, the Year 2 pupils will spend the day at the juniors in their new classrooms with their teachers.

Children Moving from Year 6 to Year 7 September 2021
Please find attached a letter sent out to Year 6 parents in May 2021 explaining the planned arrangements for the end of the year.
Unfortunately, due to recent changes to the government's planned road map out of lo ckdown, some of the planned activities and events for the end of the year have been amended.
Please find information from The Bolsover School regarding the transition day at The Bolsover School on Monday 19th July 2021.
Following on from my earlier communication, I now write to confirm arrangements of forthcoming events and to provide information in preparation for your child starting their secondary education at The Bolsover School.
In support of avoiding mass gatherings, a decision has been made not to hold an Information Evening in school again this year. Alternatively, I would ask that you please visit our school website using the link below:-

Year 6 Transition Day
Your child is invited to attend a Transition Day at The Bolsover School on 19th July 2021. It is important that you book a place for your child by completing the online booking form below.
• Your child should arrive at school for 8:20am and report to the Sports Hall. The school day ends at 3:00pm.
• Transport arrangements – please arrange transport for your child to and from The Bolsover School.
• Primary school uniform must be worn. Your child should bring a sun hat and apply sun cream before school and bring a supply with them.
• Lunchtime arrangements – Your child should bring a packed lunch. A free school meal will be provided for those children eligible. Your child should bring a bottle of water – please be aware that our water fountains are currently unavailable.

School Registration Form
To help us prepare for your child’s transition to The Bolsover School we ask that you please complete our Registration Form, by clicking on the link below – please complete this by 18 June 2021.
If eligible for school transport, your child will be issued with a free bus pass during the summer school holiday period. Bus passes are allocated by the Admissions & Transport Team at Derbyshire County Council. Queries relating to school transport should be directed to Admissions.Transport@derbyshire.gov.uk
A separate letter has already been emailed to parents/carers. Information is also available on our school website.
The Autumn Term starts on Monday 6 September 2021. Thursday 2 September 2021 and Friday 3 September 2021 are INSET Days – the school is closed to students on these days. The school day starts at 8:30am and ends at 3:00pm.
School Car Park
Our school car park operates on a controlled entry system. Unless allocated a special permit, parents/carers are not permitted to enter the school car park – this is for the safety of students and carpark users. Parent/carers are asked to refrain from parking on Moor Lane and Mooracre Lane in respect of the local residents and for the safety of students.
In September your child has the option of purchasing a school lunch or bringing a packed lunch. Free school meals will be provided for those eligible. The school operates a cashless system linked to “ParentPay” – further information is available by using this link https://www.parentpay.com/ or on our website.
Home to School Communication
Over a number of years, the school has been working towards becoming paperless. Communication with parents/carers is, in the main, via the School Gateway app, the school’s social media page and the school website – please see the school website for more information or click on this link https://schoolgateway.co.uk/
