What is the statutory guidance for teaching RSE?

From the 2020-21 academic year, the Department for Education (DfE) have made Relationships, Health and Sex Education (RSE) compulsory. The DfE's guidance for the curriculum can be found here: Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education guidance (publishing.service.gov.uk)

How do we teach RSE at Bolsover CE Junior School?

In school, we use Jigsaw for our PSHE (including RSE) curriculum. It is fully compliant with the DfE Statutory Relationships & Health Education Guidance. We will begin our SRE teaching in the summer term.

As a Church of England school, we also ensure our SRE curriculum follows their guidance and procedures. Check out the following information from The Church of England regarding SRE: The Church of England Article and Charter (PDF)

Goodness and Mercy Documents (added 19 Oct 2020)

      1. Goodness and Mercy: Health Education
      2. Goodness and Mercy: Relationships Education
      3. Goodness and Mercy: Sex Education

How do we prepare our pupils for RSE?

Before this, we will invite parents/carers to a Parent Meeting in school to discuss the curriculum and provide a chance for you to ask any questions.

If you have any queries about the RSE curriulum, please contact our PSHE Leader - Mrs Currie - via the school office on 01246 822324.
